Penobscot River

The Penobscot River stretches 24o mles across Maine, including the East and West branch, and comprises a drainage of 8,570 square miles. Maine's largest river is home to many types of fish including Brook Trout, Landlocked Salmon and Smallmouth bass to name a few of the game species.
Our trips on the Penobscot focus on the abundant Smallmouth Bass in the greater Bangor area. We fish from motorboats as this is a very large river. Fish can be caught on light spinning gear as well as fly rods. Pound for pound these are some of the hardest fighting freshwater fish in Maine, often jumping a foot or more out of the water upon hook up. Average fish range in the 12-14" range with fish up to 20" on occasion. It is not uncommon for catch volume to be in the double digits in a day of fishing on the mighty Penobscot. Come experience some of the best bass fishing in the nation!
